American Liberty League Formed

August 22. Opponents to FDR's New Deal have organized the "American Liberty League." The League says that it will work to "defend and uphold the Constitution" and to "foster the right to work, earn, save and acquire property."

Former New York Governor and Democratic presidential candidate Al Smith is a League member.
