On His Way to Dallas

On his way from Portland, Oregon, where he had been cutting wood for seventy-five cents a tier, to Dallas, Texas where he said his brother had a job for him in meat packaging. Had once been employed driving a truck and, unlike most hitch-hikers, was able to make a specialty of long haul night travel by dressing as a truck driver and thumbing rides on the plea of being a member of the fraternity and able to take a turn at the wheel. Photographed at 9:00 in the evening, he didn't get a ride until around midnight.
