This album contains six photographs taken in "El Fanguito", a vast slum skirting San Juan on the south. Although these pictures show the living conditions in only one slum of the capital of Puerto Rico, similar conditions exist in every large coastal town of the Island.

These pictures speak for themselves. The extent to which they apply to the whole inland can be grasped from the statistical material presented at the end of this album—material gathered from the reports of many government agencies.
