    Believe It Or Not

    April 1939

    BELIEVE ITOR NOT!

    MILLIONS OF NEW YORKERS
have never visited the Statue of Liberty or the Empire State Building. Yet the two represent the nation's picture of our metropolis! To New Yorkers the city means traffic cops and subways, slums and skyscrapers, night clubs and relief bureaus, libraries and jails. Millions from all over the country will flock to the World's Fair. They ought to see the New Yorkers' view of New York! Rushing Meadows will be pretty, but it won't be the city. The PHOTO LEAGUE, 31 E. 21st Street, is planning an exhibition of New York as YOU see it, as opposed to the way the picture postcards, guidebooks and the rotogravure sections "see" it. All photographers, amateur or professional, Brownie luggers or Contax carriers are invited. The name is unimportant, the picture is. They will be hung in many galleries, and the Photo League will see to it that they are viewed by many people. HERE ARE THE REQUIREMENTS An honest viewpoint. A clean lens. And--your pictures on 8 x 10 glossy, if possible please! MAIL THEM to the Photo League, 31 East 21st St. , N. Y. C. before June 1, 1939. Your name and address on the back, and include return postage. The Photo League will handle each picture with loving care, but, it cannot assume responsibility for loss or damage. THE JURY BERENICE ABBOTT ROBERT DISRAELI S.
