[ New Search ] Wheeler Dam Location : AL Agency : TVA Owner : FDRL Medium : B&W Photo Control Number : Photographs (General): TVA: Dams: Alabama: Wheeler Enlarged Image Description : At the end of the lake formed by Wilson Dam at Muscle Shoals, Alabama, TVA has built Wheeler Dam; it will back water up the Tennessee River 74 miles to Guntersville Dam, creating a channel for 9-foot navigation. This view, from the north abutment of the dam, shows the highway bridge across the dam passing over the navigation lock at a sufficient height to eliminate the necessity of a draw bridge in passing boats through the lock.
