[ New Search ] On His Way to Dallas Location : Modesto, CA Date : Apr 8, 1940 Agency : NYA Credits : Rondal Partridge (Photographer) Owner : NARA (SPB) Medium : B&W Photo Control Number : RG 119-CAL-14-22 Enlarged Image Description : On his way from Portland, Oregon, where he had been cutting wood for seventy-five cents a tier, to Dallas, Texas where he said his brother had a job for him in meat packaging. Had once been employed driving a truck and, unlike most hitch-hikers, was able to make a specialty of long haul night travel by dressing as a truck driver and thumbing rides on the plea of being a member of the fraternity and able to take a turn at the wheel.
