Description : Mrs. Nelson Greene and baby, wife of unemployed miner now on WPA. Husband gets $30 a month, they owe a $38 doctor bill, and she should be in the hospital. She has kidney trouble and is unable to nurse the baby, they buy milk at $4.68 per month. The first baby died, and she said the doctor advised her not to have any more children. They bought a hog to fatten, paid half of the last pay day and are to pay the balance the following pay day. They are in destitute circumstances. She said: "My husband is a miner and the mines shut down and he says we'd starve without WPA. WPA has helped a lot. They built the swimming pool and streets."
