Working with Clover Roots

Description : The California Institute of Technology is operating a project
with WPA labor, devoted to the purpose of finding practical uses for
hormones and vitamins needed in plant growth similar to their value to humans.
The spectacular results of Vitamin B-1 on root cuttings were discovered by
this project.
Former WPA worker, George C. Warner, employed on this project, subsequently opened his own business, which has proved to be very successful, and now has in his employ several people engaged in manufacturing Vitamin B-1 for use by plant trade.
Photo shows WPA technician cutting a clover root which has grown from a one centremeter tip in one week. The tip will, if placed in fresh medium, grow in one week into a root similar to that shown in the picture. This operation can be repeated indefinitely. Listed Under:
