Putting Census Records on Microfilm
Location : Washington, DC
Description : Census population volume being photographed on micro-film.
The Census volumes now occupy approximately
a mile of shelving, but when copied on film
can be stored in 28 standard-size file cases.
Besides this great saving in storage space, micro-filming
of the population volumes will reduce hazards in fire, water, and the wear and tear of constant handling by routine searching for information.
