[ New Search ] War Nursery: Outdoor Play Location : Scranton, PA Date : Nov, 1942 Agency : WPA Owner : NARA (SPB) Medium : B&W Photo Control Number : RG 69-12-F-5186 Enlarged Image Description : Weather permitting, out-door play periods are a part of the routine at all Child Care Centers set up by the Federal Works Agency for the children of mothers in war industry. WPA in its hundreds of nursery schools created valuable formulae and techniques for operation of those centers which are known as War Nurseries. There will be trained supervision, and Lanham Act funds are available where the resources of costs of heavy war production have been overbearing.
