War Nursery: Dinner Time
Location : Philadelphia, PA
Description : Dinner-time in a war nursery in the House of Industry in Philadelphia. This is one of the nurseries established with WPA assistance. Lanham Act funds under FHA allotment are now available for the care of children of war-working mother. This noon-day meal consists of filet of fish, stewed tomatoes, baked potatoes, apple sauce, buttertoast, celery sticks and milk. The milk follows the heavier food and each child is permitted to pour his own.
These new Child Care Centers will be operated under trained supervisory personnel, and generally in connection with the existing school system. Listed Under:
