War Nursery: Children at Play
Location : Scranton, PA
Description : There are many pleasant ways for the children of war working mothers to pass the day in Child Care Centers for which the Federal Works Agency has made Lanham Act funds available in communities where the war impact has overtaxed existing facilities heavily. Some of these Centers, known as War Nurseries, may be operated around the clock, seven days a week. Mothers or older children bring the youngsters to the Center for the hours in which they would be without supervision or care in their homes, and they are picked up again at the change shifts in the industrial plants.
