Purchasing a Painting

Description : David Findley (center), Director of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., purchases a silk screen print, "Trees in Bloom", by Charles Barrows of Santa Fe, N.M., exhibited at the National Art Week show. Holger Cahill (right), Director of the WPA Art Program and a member of the jury of art authorities who judges works for the exhibit, looks on while volunteer saleswoman, an art student at the King-Smith Studio School, writes out sales slip. WPA assisted in setting up displays for the show which was held during the week of November 17th in the Departmental Auditorium of the Department of Labor.
Art Week, sponsored officially by the President of the United States, and co-sponsored by a Committee of Federal Agencies, headed by Mrs. Florence Kerr, Assistant WPA Commissioner, was celebrated in all 48 States, as well as in the District of Columbia. Listed Under:
