Aerial View of Treasure Island
Location : San Francisco, CA
Description : This photo represents an aerial view of Treasure Island, the 400-acre site in San Francisco Bay of the Golden Gate Exposition which opens there in February, 1939. This photo shows many of the buildings which have been erected to house exhibits at the Great Exposition. At the right of the picture are shown two great airplane hangars which serve as the American Terminal for the Trans-Pacific Air Clipper Service of Pan American Airways.
Two years ago, Treasure Island was only a shoal off Yerba Buena Island, a part of which is shown in the right foreground of this photograph. Note the causeway linking Treasure Island. Listed Under:
