Description : PWA is financing the construction of the first subway system in Chicago, a 7.7 mile double tube system consisting of two routes, State Street (Route 1) and Deerborn Street (Route 2). Photo shows point where the subway comes out of the ground and joins the "L." This is a part of the portal at North Avenue and Clybourn Avenue, near the North terminal of the State Street route.
