Children Rehearsing for Marionette Competition
Location : New Orleans, LA
Description : WPA Recreation units plan marionette tourney. When "Snow White" met the Queen outside the enchanted castle -- a scene from the puppet play recently perfected by children of the John McDonogh Public School No. 11. This unite will soon compete against half a dozen other marionette classes trained by the WPA Recreation Division in New Orleans. The children all under 15 years of age, made, dressed, and strung their own "actors". From left to right, the young marionetteers and their "characters" are; Albert Dufour, aged 11, with the Huntsman; Rosemary Johnson, 13; the Prince; Benerley Johnson, 10; Snow White; Rosalie Duggan, 15 the Queen.
