Description : So enthusiastic are negro students over their "education" that they seldom go home at their appointed but after an hour and a half is over because they turn the class into a social gathering. This group of Tensas Parish Plantation negroes are singing their favorite spiritual, "Swing Low, Sweet Chariot". The leader is J.S. Jones prominent southern negro educator who is now in charge of adult education among the negroes for the WPA. Jones, affectionately know as "the professor", has been engaged in educational work among the negroes of his native Louisiana for almost half a century. For many years he was dean of Southern University at Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
