Adult Literacy Students with their Children

Description : Photo shows a typical group of mothers (note their children) who attend this night literacy class regularly. In addition, I am told, there are quite a group of men enrolled who, unfortunately last night were absent on account of work in connection with cutting timber. I can scarcely picture to you the isolation of this little school to which the pupils either walk or are brought in a lumber truck. Mrs. Edna W. Harris, the teacher standing in right of picture, tells me that her pupils range in age from 16 to 60 and I was informed by our guide that some two or three years ago it was pretty dangerous country to enter unless you were well known "in those parts."
