On lined paper, Secretary of the Interior, Usher, wrote of the great abolitionist Frederick Douglass, on August 10, 1863, "I concur" written and signed by Abraham Lincoln, may be seen at lower left of the letter. This is one of the thousands of letters, documents pamphlets and books classified, filed and racked by the four WPA workers on a Historical Records Survey Project at the Frederick Douglass Memorial Home in Washington, D.C.
