Description : Washington, D.C. Frederick Douglass Memorial Home - Four Historical Records workers are shown listing furnishings, art and utility articles in the bedroom of Frederick Douglass, abolitionist's home. At the extreme right is a chair originally given to Harriet Beacher Stowe, author of "Uncle Tom's Cabin," by the first graduating class in cabinet-making at Hampton Institute. Mrs. Stowe later gave this chare to Frederick Douglass. Through the Works Progress Administration project, all significant facts bearing on the life and times of the abolitionist are being made a matter of public record by the Historical Records Survey workers.
