Notes:     This study synthesizes a great many primary sources and offers a telling analysis of the relationships between labor supply, capital, and the state. Notes the Southern Tenant Farmers Union's and Amalgamated Meat Cutters' efforts to organize these workers, as well as the role of racial prejudice in the formulation of policy by the state and others.
