Occupancy Is Greatest Since May 1931 Survey ShowsNOV. 28, 1937
Three noteworthy facts feature the October 1 survey of the National Association of Building owners and Managers on office building occupancy, according to the Fort Wayne Real Estate Board.
First: The improvement in occupancy of office space continues but shows a tendency to level off.
Second: Cities from which reports were received for more than three buildings totaled 103, an all-time high, the figure for the first time passing the century mark. The total number of cities from which reports were received was 135, another record.
Third: Seven hundred and eighty-three building in 115 cities, with a total rentable area of 64, 048, 248 square feet, reported normal occupancy of 90 per cent or better.
The results of the nationwide study are given in detail in a report by Lewis V. Echols, Memphis, chairman of the association's committee on renting, on the current issue of Skyscraper Management, for the eleventh time since the highest point of vacancy was reached January, 1, 1934, they show an improvement over the immediately preceding survey. In fact, the occupancy is at its highest level, according tot he association's figures, since May, 1 1931.
