THE FORT WAYNE JOURNAL-GAZETTE
Publishing Information $112,000,000 CONSTRUCTION PROGRAM
(Editorial)NOV. 27, 1937
Significant and satisfactory is the "treaty of peace" between the federal government on the one hand and private power companies on the other.
One hundred and twelve million dollars of new construction will be a direct and tangible result of the conciliatory talks in which President Roosevelt took a leading hand.
This, in turn, will create additional employment, expedite the shipment of materials, and create confidence in the utility field.
Rather than submit to the extreme left-wing course advocated by some of his advisers, the President appears determined to play ball with industry.
During Mr. Roosevelt's brief absence from his desk in search of recuperation in Florida waters, he will probably be represented by a middle-of-the-road subordinate in further discussions with utility chieftains.
This is good for business big and little. It is equally good for the plain people.
