Children in Front of Brownstone Doorway

the picture shows a group of kids in the front of a building in 1939. this a good picture because it shows a lot of kids each doing different things (playing). it also shows the kids being watched by the parents. this is not common in the 90's but apparently it was in the 30's. it shows that parents were more protective of their kids in that time. most of the games the kids were playing are familiar to those my younger siblings play. this shows that games are still the same. the kids way of dress reminds me of the way my mother wanted me to dress when i was younger. they seem unaffected by the depression.

Yes, this is an interesting photo. I am glad that you noticed that the parents are watching--and other grownups too. All those adult eyes on the street kept trouble from starting up. It's interesting that they are playing on the street, in front of the apartment building, instead of in a courtyard. They didn't have as many courtyards and play areas, but the sidewalk was a lot livelier back then.

P.S. 194 Under Construction

I think the people were trying live their lives and not make the depression a problem. They are walking down the street not worrying about any problem.

Kids Gambling

This is a picture of kids having fun. They are gambling in the corner and I suppose it's because they have no one really paying attention to them. They may also need the money to buy little things their parents can't afford. They may just want it for candy. The kids seem to have no understanding of what is happening. They don't know that there is a crisis at bay.

Two Shoeshine Boys

The picture show us that in depression kids had to work also. The kids are shining shoes to make a living for their families. The reason that the kids have only one shoe shine box is because the box cost too much to get. They look sad; I suppose because they have not made a lot of money for that day.

Children's Theater Unit: Theater Class for Children

I think the mural that I chose was very interesting and nice because it showed me what roles the children had to play. it also showed that they were having a good time putting together their play. I also found the costumes very beautiful and creative. although i don't know what type of costume their wearing i think it's nice too look at.

Utopia Children's House: Story Time

I found this interesting, the way the children were gathered around. It is something that is most likely still done today. The children are on the floor while the teacher is reading. It shows how children are intrigued by something as simple as a book. I also found it interesting the way it seemed the teacher was acting out the story.

Audience Shot, Children's Theatre in Duluth

I found this picture about children performing a play of "Alice in wonderland". It was around the time of the Great Depression.

ENJOY!!

Children in Playground of Harlem Housing Project

This is the location of the picture It shows kids playing in the sprinklers having fun getting wet. They are not worried about the problems of what is going on in the Great Depression. The kids also look some what poor and not having as much fun as they should. Maybe they are worried about the problems their parents are having

Piano Classes, Midtown [NYC] Community Music Center

In the picture I could see, students in a piano class with keyboards. It seems like, they are not experts and are just begining to learn.
