"WPA +35," a retrospective exhibition at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, featured crafts from the Milwaukee WPA Handicraft Project. The exhibition took place January 4-30, 1970, 35 years after the project had begun.

A Project Director was needed. Harriet Clinton chose Elsa Ulbricht, the Fine Arts Director of Milwaukee State Teachers College. She in turn selected Mary June Kellogg (Rice), a gifted graduate of the Teachers College, to serve as Art Director. Anne Feldman was asked to handle administrative details.
Their goal was to "make by hand household articles of wood, paper, yarn, and cloth." Those products -- rugs, draperies, quilts, toys, dolls, furniture, book bindings, and prints -- were to be sold to tax-exempt agencies such as schools and hospitals for the cost of materials.
